Since its release in 2006, Twitter has since become a popular name for avid social media users. In order to attract new users and to keep the attention of existing ones, Twitter’s constantly improving and adding new features.
Twitter has decided to add a new video tweet feature that will complement Vine. It was acquired by Twitter in 2012, right before Vine’s official launch. Vine is a video-sharing site and app where you can post 6-second videos in a loop. The video-sharing idea was so popular that Instagram eventually went and made it possible to post 15-second videos on its site as well.
Twitter’s new feature allows its users to post 30- second video clips that will automatically play when seen in the timeline. Twitter added this feature because today’s generation of Twitter users are more fun and adventurous, and more likely to tweet gifs, videos and audios.
The same feature will also be integrated in the Twitter app so that one can easily capture moments, tweet it and share it to followers. iPhone users will be allowed to upload videos straight from their camera roll. The same feature is yet to be available for Android users but it is expected to come in the near future.
In addition to the video-tweet feature, Twitter also launched their group direct messaging feature so that users can easily converse and share ideas with other people that are also on Twitter. Jinen Kamdar, the product director of Twitter said that most people are using direct messaging to connect with people and brands that one can connect only on Twitter, making this new feature a smart and useful move.
